Hope against hope : Keratoprosthesis type 1 with Ahmed Glaucoma Valve in a none eyed patient

This video showcases a complex case of a monocular patient with end-stage ocular surface disease and refractory glaucoma, managed successfully with a combined Type 1 Boston Keratoprosthesis (KPro) and Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) implantation. The surgery demanded meticulous planning due to extensive symblepharon, conjunctival cicatrization, and high IOP despite maximal therapy. Through a multidisciplinary surgical approach, visual rehabilitation and IOP control were achieved, offering the patient a meaningful chance at sight restoration. This case highlights hope even in seemingly hopeless eyes, emphasizing the synergy of advanced corneal and glaucoma techniques.
