Clinical Profile and Treatment outcomes of patients with Tubercular Uveitis

Study design: Retrospective observational study
Aim: To present the real-world data of tubercular uveitis (TBU) patients
Methods: Patients with diagnosis of TBU and having a follow-up of 12 months were recruited. The diagnosis of TBU was made using the criteria set by COTS 1. Patient details were collected from the medical records. All patients were treated with a combination of ATT and steroids with or without immunomodulators.
Results: A total of 321 eyes of 198 patients diagnosed with TBU, were included in this study. The mean age was 35.28 years with a male predominance (72%). Posterior uveitis was most commonly seen (80.63%). The most common phenotype seen was retinal vasculitis (34.81%) followed by serpiginous-like choroiditis (SLC) (24.05%). Treatment success was seen in 62% patients at 12 months.
Conclusion: TB retinal vasculitis was the most common manifestation of TBU, treatment failures and paradoxical worsening were significantly associated with SLC phenotype.
