Correlation of Corneal Ulcer Size and Depth by Slit Lamp and AS-OCT

Study Design: Cross-sectional observational study
Purpose: To evaluate and correlate corneal ulcer size and depth measured by slit-lamp and anterior segment OCT (AS-OCT).
Methods: A total of 120 patients with infective corneal ulcers (>2 mm) were assessed using slit-lamp biomicroscopy and AS-OCT. Parameters included maximum vertical diameter (MVD), maximum horizontal diameter (MHD), depth, and central corneal thickness. Statistical analysis was performed using Pearson correlation.
Results: Mean MVD and MHD were slightly higher on AS-OCT, while depth measurements were comparable between both modalities. Strong positive correlation was observed for MVD (r=0.85), MHD (r=0.88), and depth (r=0.90). Minimal mean differences were noted, indicating high agreement.
Conclusion: Slit-lamp and AS-OCT show a strong correlation in assessing corneal ulcers. AS-OCT provides additional precision, especially for depth evaluation.
