Pediatric OCT Norms: Mapping Optic Disc Topography and RNFL Profiles in Children

Purpose
This study aimed to evaluate optic nerve head (ONH) topography and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in children using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), analyze their correlation with age and gender, and establish normative pediatric OCT data for early detection of optic nerve disorders.

Method
A cross-sectional observational study was conducted on 147 children aged 10–18 years attending the Eye OPD of MY Hospital . After informed consent, detailed history and complete ocular examination was done. Children with high refractive errors, glaucoma, amblyopia, strabismus, vitreoretinal disease, optic nerve abnormalities, or systemic diseases affecting the retina/optic nerve were excluded.

Result
A significant correlation was found between age and temporal RNFL thickness, showing slight thinning with increasing age. No significant gender-based differences were observed in average RNFL or ONH parameters
