Comparison of diurnal intraocular pressure measureed by iCare home tonometer with GAT

Purpose- To compare diurnal intraocular pressure (IOP) fluctuation, self-measured by iCare Home Tonometer (HT) with Goldmann Applanation Tonometer (GAT)
Design- Cross-sectional study
Method- Patients of POAG/NTG/OHT were recruited and randomly assigned to video/verbal instruction of use of iCare HT.IOP was measured by patients using iCare HT, 15 minutes of each GAT recordings,by a glaucoma consultant/senior fellow during office hours.Results- IOP of 50 patients measured by both GAT and iCare HT showed positive correlation between the two (P-value <0.001). Student t-test showed no statistically significant difference between readings obtained by video versus verbal training of iCare HT (P-value >0.05).
Conclusion- iCare HT is as reliable as GAT and can be reliably used for home monitoring of IOP by patients themselves.
