Role of AS-OCT in Evaluating Corneal Pathologies: A Cross-Sectional Study

STUDY DESIGN-Cross-Sectional Study
PURPOSE-To compare AS-OCT findings with slit-lamp examination and to determine the additional diagnostic value of AS-OCT and its impact on clinical management.
METHOD-A cross-sectional observational study was conducted over one year at a tertiary care center, including 100 patients aged 18–80 years with corneal pathologies. All patients underwent slit-lamp examination followed by AS-OCT imaging. Findings from both modalities were compared to assess diagnostic utility. Statistical analysis was performed using appropriate tests, with p < 0.05 considered significant.
RESULT-AS-OCT provides enhanced visualization of corneal microstructures, precise assessment of lesion depth, corneal thickness, and structural integrity, over conventional methods.
CONCLUSION-AS-OCT serves as a valuable adjunct to slit-lamp examination, improving diagnostic accuracy, aiding in treatment planning, contributing to better clinical outcomes in patients with corneal pathologies.
