Lenticular Higher Order Aberrations in different types of Cataract

Purpose :
To compare the higher order of aberrations (HOA) in different types of cataract

Materials and methods :
It’s a retrospective study where subjects diagnosed with cataract were included. Subjects who had undergone cataract workup were included. Subjects with nuclear sclerosis (NS) grade II with and without cortical (CO) and/ or posterior subcapsular (PSC) cataract were included. Subjects with NS III-IV, hypermature cataract were excluded. Lenticular HOA were compared at 4mm pupil size among different types of cataract.

Result :
A total of 58 eyes were considered for analysis, where 25 eyes had NS, 14 had NS+CO, 10 had NS+PSC and 8 had NS+CO+PSC. Coma, quadrafoil and secondary trefoil were statistically significant different. 

Conclusion :
Lenticular Coma, quadrafoil and secondary trefoil was found to be significantly higher in eyes with NS plus PSC, NS plus PSC plus Cortical opacity and NS plus cortical opacity eyes respectively.
