Corneal volume and CCT changes in Astig refractive correction- PRKvsFEMTOLASIKvs RELEX SMILE
Purpose : To evaluate the changes in corneal volume & CCT in patients with compound myopic astigmatism undergoing (PRK) vS (FEMTO- LASIK) vs (RELEX- SMILE). Materials and methods : 117 eyes of patients, i.e. 39 eyes in each group with age more than 20 years with myopia less than -1D and astigmatism less than -5D were selected. CCT and Central Corneal Volume (Pentacam ) were done pre and post refractive surgery on POD 1, 15 and 3months respectively. Result : statistically significant change in CCT (p value = 0.009) . ReLEx SMILE (42.7±12.5) procedure resulted in a significantly greater loss of central corneal thickness per diopter of spherical equivalent than PRK (30±4.8) and F-LASIK (31.3±9.7). . ReLEx SMILE had a significantly higher reduction in corneal volume per dioptre SE in comparison with PRK (p value=0.006). Conclusion : Least corneal tissue reduced with respect to corneal volume & CCT parameters, for per diopter of SE was in PRK >Femto LASIK > ReLEx SMILE.
