Cataract
Comparative Analysis of Three Realignment Formulas for Managing Refractive Surprise After Toric IOL Implantation
Nearly one-third of cataract patients are suitable candidates for toric IOL implantation. But the post-operative refractive surprise remains a major concern limiting wider adoption of toric IOLs. Common causes include toric IOL misalignment, inaccurate toric power selection, high surgically induced astigmatism (SIA), and discrepancies between predicted and actual posterior corneal astigmatism (PCA). This study evaluates five real cases and compares three different toric IOL realignment formula based on - 1- Fixed toricity ratio - Astigmatismfix.com. 2- Effective lens position (ELP) based- Barrett Rx. And 3- Toric Error Analyzer which easy to use mobile app which provides optimal realignment axis based on both above methods, in addition it also identifies the relative contribution of toric misalignment, SIA, PCA error, and incorrect toric IOL power, with graphical visualization of each factor. It also predict the ideal toric IOL power both pre- and post-operatively.
